2026 is our 150th Anniversary!

Founded on January 5, 1876, as the Belleville Horticultural Society, our organization has a proud history of nurturing beauty and community spirit for over 100 years. In 1973, we adopted the name Belleville Garden Club to reflect a

shift in focus from rural to urban interests. In 2026, we celebrate 150 years!

Our mandate is to inspire a love of horticulture and help our members and the greater community grow their skills. Our club has undertaken a variety of projects in Belleville, including the Chrysanthemum Big Dig, the Trillium Awards, and the

beautification of the Riverside Memorial Gardens, the Belleville General Hospital Courtyard, and the Belleville Cemetery. We also played a key role in restoring the roses in the Corby Rose Garden and, in July 2005, donated a Japanese Maple to

celebrate the 100th anniversary of Corby Park.

The Belleville Garden Club is a proud member of the Ontario Horticultural Association (OHA), District 3, joining over 200 affiliated horticultural societies and clubs across Ontario dedicated to “Keeping Ontario Beautiful ".
